Everything you need to build and ship iOS apps with AI

Getting Started

1. Create Your Account

Sign up for a free account at AppGenesis.ai. You'll start with 25 free credits to explore the platform and generate your first app.

Visit /signup to create your account

2. Create Your First Project

Click "New Project" and describe your app idea in plain English. Be as detailed as possible about the features, design, and functionality you want.

Example prompt:

"Create a fitness tracking app with a home screen showing daily steps, a workout logger with predefined exercises, and a progress chart. Use a modern design with blue accents."

3. Generate Your App

Click "Generate" and watch as AppGenesis creates your complete SwiftUI project. This typically takes 30-60 seconds depending on complexity.

4. Iterate and Refine

Use the chat interface to make changes: "Add a dark mode toggle", "Change the primary color to green", "Add a settings screen". Each iteration refines your app.

5. Export to Xcode

When you're satisfied, click "Export to Xcode" to download a complete, ready-to-build Xcode project. Open it in Xcode and run it immediately on your device or simulator.

Core Concepts

Projects

A project is a complete iOS app with all its files, structure, and configuration. Each project includes:

  • SwiftUI views and components
  • Data models and view models
  • Assets and resources
  • Project configuration and settings

Credits

Credits are consumed when you generate or modify your app with AI. 1 credit equals approximately 1,000 AI tokens.

Simple UI change1-2 credits
New screen with logic3-5 credits
Full app generation10-20 credits

AI Chat Interface

Use natural language to describe changes and improvements. The AI understands context and can make targeted modifications without rewriting your entire app.

Pro Tip:

Be specific in your requests. Instead of "make it better", say "add a loading spinner when fetching data" or "change the button color to match the app icon".

Features

Code Editor

View and edit generated code with syntax highlighting. Make manual changes that the AI will respect in future iterations.

File Locking

Lock files to protect your manual edits. Locked files are never modified by AI, giving you full control over your code.

File Tree

Navigate your project structure with an intuitive file tree. See all views, models, and resources at a glance.

Xcode Export

Export complete, ready-to-build Xcode projects. Includes all source files, assets, and proper project configuration.

Smart Templates

Start from pre-built templates for common app types: fitness, productivity, social, e-commerce, and more.

Best Practices

Writing Effective Prompts

  • Be specific: Instead of "a todo app", say "a todo app with categories, due dates, and priority levels"
  • Describe the UI: Mention colors, layout preferences, and navigation style you want
  • List features: Be clear about what features are essential vs. nice-to-have
  • Mention data: Explain what data your app needs to store and how it should persist

Iterating on Your App

  • One change at a time: Make incremental changes for better results and easier debugging
  • Review before continuing: Check the generated code after each iteration to ensure it meets your expectations
  • Lock important files: Once you make manual edits to a file, lock it to prevent AI from overwriting your changes

Preparing for App Store

  • Test thoroughly: Test your exported app on real devices, not just simulators
  • Add assets: Ensure you have proper app icons, launch screens, and screenshots
  • Review guidelines: Check Apple's App Store Review Guidelines before submitting
  • Privacy policy: If your app collects data, you'll need a privacy policy

Troubleshooting

Generation Failed or Timed Out

If your generation fails or times out:

  • • Try simplifying your prompt and adding features incrementally
  • • Check your credit balance
  • • Ensure you're not hitting rate limits
  • • Contact support if the issue persists

Exported Project Won't Build

If your exported project has build errors:

  • • Ensure you're using Xcode 15 or later
  • • Check that your deployment target matches your device
  • • Clean the build folder (Shift + Cmd + K)
  • • Review the specific error messages and ask AI to fix them

AI Made Unwanted Changes

If AI modified files you didn't want changed:

  • • Lock the files you want to protect
  • • Be more specific in your prompts about which parts to change

Running Out of Credits

If you're running low on credits:

  • • Purchase credit add-ons that never expire
  • • Upgrade to a higher tier for more monthly credits
  • • Make more targeted requests to use fewer credits per iteration
